Emerson Evans does not believe in the paranormal. That makes working at a voodoo shop in the French Quarter an unexpected choice of jobs. But she wants to understand why people believe in spells, hexes, hoodoo and other mumbo jumbo? So, what better place to meet true believers?
When she meets a man who claims to be Baron Samedi—a voodoo god, that should be a major score. Talk about research material. But his crazy doesn’t end there. He tells her one of the shops regulars, who just died, refuses to cross over to the afterworld until Emerson solves her murder. Yeah right. Delusional, anyone?
Emerson soon learns that maybe the woman didn’t die of natural causes. Maybe she really was murdered. Emerson might not believe in the paranormal, but she does believe there could be a murderer in their midst. And apparently it is up to her (and her canine sidekick) to find out hoodone it.
